Family Dental Of Palatine
Patient Review
My daughter was a patient at Family Dentistry of Palatine for many years, during which she regularly received routine exams and cleanings. We recently switched to a new dental provider and the new dentist discovered eight cavities. He expressed serious concern, stating that some of the cavities were large, clearly visible to the naked eye, and could not have been missed on X-rays. He was surprised to hear that my daughter had been receiving regular dental care. As a mother, I am very upset that such significant dental issues were not identified earlier. I sincerely do not recommend this place.

I scheduled an appointment a month in advance as a first time patient, and arrived on time to see no one at the front desk and all the lights off. After speaking to a receptionist who came in, I was brought back and told the doctor would be late- which I can understand. After waiting 30 minutes, I was told the doctor wouldn't arrive for another 30 minutes, and that I could come back later. Business hours should reflect scheduled appointment times. Do not recommend.

I used to avoid the dentist like it was a punishment. Every visit in the past felt rushed, uncomfortable, and honestly kind of cold. No one explained what was going on. I’d leave confused about the bill, sore from the cleaning, and feeling like just another name on a list. That stuff adds up. You start to put it off. I had tooth pain for weeks before I finally gave in and tried Avid Dental. From the first phone call something felt different. The staff actually sounded like they cared. They didn’t just bark out appointment times or throw me on hold. They asked questions, explained what I’d need to bring, and helped me understand what my insurance would cover. It felt like a real conversation, not a transaction. When I showed up for my appointment, the waiting area was calm and clean, not chaotic like other places I’ve been. The hygienist walked me through what she was doing the entire time. I didn’t feel poked at or rushed. The dentist was patient, asked about my concerns, and actually listened. I told him about past bad experiences and he took that seriously. He explained my options in a way that made sense without making me feel dumb. The pain that brought me in was gone after a few visits, but what really surprised me was how much better I felt overall. I’m not anxious anymore when I have an appointment coming up. My teeth look cleaner. I smile more. I didn’t realize how much I’d been avoiding smiling until I wasn’t anymore. If going to the dentist has ever made you feel small or stressed or like you’re just supposed to sit there and take it, Avid Dental will be a breath of fresh air. They treat you like a person. And for me, that changed everything.
